The WeatherTech Racing-branded Scuderia Corsa entry will remain a Ferrari 488 GT3 and pair Cooper MacNeil with veteran Ferrari racer Toni Vilander for the upcoming IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
After reaching the GP2 Series in 2005, Vilander began a sports car career that has included two 24 Hours of Le Mans wins and one victory in the Bathurst 12 Hour. The Finnish driver competed with Risi Competizione for three GT Le Mans races and won the Pirelli World Challenge championship this year.
MacNeil, son of WeatherTech CEO David MacNeil, shared the Ferrari with several drivers throughout 2018 and ended the season by winning the Motul Petit Le Mans with Gunnar Jeannette and Daniel Serra.
The season-long drivers will be joined by Dominik Farnbacher and Jeff Westphal for the season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona. Two of Farnbacher’s 10 Rolex 24 starts culminated in victories, adding to his pair of wins in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring and pair of second-place finishes at Le Mans. Westphal has earned the Nürburgring pole position and matched that feat by qualifying on top for a recent eight-hour race at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
The WeatherTech team’s preparations for the Rolex 24 and the 2019 season included a test Monday at the Daytona International Speedway and will continue with the Roar Before the Rolex 24, set for Jan. 4–6.
