North American open-wheel racing’s long offseason may not have any on-track action to follow but the ongoing development of INDYCAR’s revised look for 2019 continues to take shape with the addition of Speedway LLC as the new Official Fuel and Official Convenience Store of the IndyCar Series, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Indianapolis 500.
The Speedway brand adorns nearly 4,000 convenience store locations across 35 states, comprising the the second largest company-owned chain in the United States. IndyCar will stage 11 races in Speedway’s footprint next year.
“The IndyCar Series is a great way to showcase Speedway’s brand and quality fuel offerings, including the fuel that will power the race cars at each event,” said Tony Kenney, president of Speedway.
As a subsidiary of Marathon Petroleum Corporation, Speedway will serve as the fuel supplier of all cars competing across the 17-race 2019 IndyCar Series schedule, including the Indy 500.
Speedway will gain signage at IMS and will be featured in NBC Sports’ coverage of IndyCar beginning with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on March 10.
