Fuzzy’s Vodka, a partner to Ed Carpenter Racing since the team’s first race in 2012, has closed its support of the stalwart IndyCar Series entrant as a transition of its marketing focus away from motor sports.
The brand was featured on the Speedway, Indianapolis-based team’s machines for 118 total events, including during team owner Ed Carpenter’s three runs to the Indianapolis 500 pole. Five race wins are among 16 total podium finishes for drivers representing Fuzzy’s Vodka through Carpenter’s team.
“It has been a good run and I wish them nothing but the best with their future endeavors,” Carpenter said of his former partner. “… Our plans for 2019 and beyond remain unchanged and I cannot wait to see what we accomplish together moving forward.”
As part of those plans, Carpenter will remain the driver of the No. 20 Chevrolet while Ed Jones comes aboard for the road and street events in partnership with Scuderia Corsa as well as the Indy 500 in a third car. The No. 21 entry will be driven full-time by Spencer Pigot.
Per the team’s press release and other reporting, Carpenter is accepting of the sponsorship loss, which was perhaps hinted in the team’s announcement regarding Jones and Scuderia Corsa wherein neither of the team’s cars were referred to as a Fuzzy’s Vodka Chevrolet like usual.
