Unlike the first practice of the weekend that was slowed by two lengthy red-flag periods, Practice 2 ran free of interruption at Road America with Jordan Taylor coming out on top within a 12-car Prototype field.

Taylor put his No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R atop the order early in the season and remained fastest throughout. At 1:52.402, Taylor’s best lap was 0.353 seconds quicker than Team Penske’s Juan Pablo Montoya, who jumped up to second in the closing minutes behind the wheel of the No. 6 Acura ARX-05.

Robert Alon turned the fastest lap in an LMP2 car, propelling his No. 85 JDC-Miller Motorsports ORECA 07 to a 1:52.773 to end the session in the third position, just 0.018 seconds shy of Montoya’s time.

Ryan Dalziel continued the trend of unique cars in the top five, placing his No. 2 Nissan Onroak DPi fourth on the timesheet while Oliver Jarvis, who was fastest in Practice 1, completed the top five in his Mazda RT24-P.

Colin Braun was sixth fastest for CORE autosport. However, after the checkered flag, co-driver Jonathan Bennett made contact with the wall at Turn 12 which caused minor damage to the No. 54 ORECA.

Ford First and Third in GTLM

Chip Ganassi Racing’s Dirk Mueller turned the fastest GT Le Mans lap in his No. 66 Ford GT, topping the class with a 2:03.716.

Mueller’s time kept him 0.079 seconds clear of Connor De Phillippi in BMW Team RLL’s No. 25 BMW M8 GTE. Behind De Phillippi in second, Richard Westbrook completed the top three in the sister No. 67 Ford with a 2:06.257.

BMW added a second car to the top five with Jesse Krohn lapping fourth fastest, just ahead of Tommy Milner — the top Corvette Racing pilot.

The fastest laps from Earl Bamber and Patrick Pilet ended the session sixth and seventh for the Porsche GT Team. Jan Magnussen brought up the rear of the eight-car class in his No. 4 Corvette C7.R with a time 0.978 seconds shy of Mueller’s best lap.

Lally Sweeps Friday in GTD

Andy Lally gave Magnus Racing a sweep of Friday’s two practices with the fastest lap in Practice 2.

Lally’s 2:06.816 was 0.232 seconds quicker than his best from earlier in the day and 0.039 seconds clear of Patrick Lindsey who was second in the Porsche of Park Place Motorsports.

Variety continued in the top six with Kyle Marcelli’s Lexus, Alessandro Pier Guidi’s Ferrari, Madison Snow’s Lamborghini and Alvaro Parente’s Acura completing the group.

Ozz Negri Jr.’s No. 51 Ferrari, fielded by Squadra Corse Garage Italia, was the first repeat manufacturer in the class with the seventh-fastest lap — a 2:07.344 that put him just over a half-second off Lally’s pace.

After crashing hard in Practice 1, Riley Motorsports’ No. 33 Mercedes-AMG GT3 did not make an appearance during the afternoon session.

The trio of IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship classes will return to Road America Saturday with Practice 3 set to go green at 8:55 a.m. CDT ahead of qualifying for all three classes at 12:35 p.m.
