NBC Named New IMSA Broadcast Partner


Television coverage of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and other IMSA-sanctioned series will shift from FOX to NBC next year to begin a six-year partnership with the NBC Sports Group.

Three WeatherTech Championship races will be shown live on NBC’s main network channel in 2019, marking an increase in network coverage over 2018. IMSA’s premier championship will be featured for more than 45 hours on NBCSN throughout the season, with more than 100 combined hours set to be shown on NBC’s broadcast, cable and digital platforms.

Similar to INDYCAR’s new TV partnership with NBC, flag-to-flag live streaming coverage of every WeatherTech Championship race will be offered on the NBC Sports app and to authenticated subscribers.

“This agreement is the culmination of a comprehensive process to align ourselves with a media rights partner that will capitalize on the tremendous momentum the WeatherTech Championship and IMSA is currently enjoying, and will help our sport reach new heights,” IMSA CEO Ed Bennett said.

The 57th Rolex 24 at Daytona, scheduled for Jan. 26–27, 2019, will mark NBC’s first IMSA broadcast. The TV schedule for the entire season will be announced in the coming months.
