Vasser, Sullivan Join Coyne for New Team

Dale Coyne, Jimmy Vasser and James “Sulli” Sullivan have come together to form Dale Coyne Racing with Vasser-Sullivan, under which Sebastien Bourdais’ No. 18 Honda will be entered for 2018.

The new program marks the return to the Verizon IndyCar Series for Vasser and Sullivan who previously led KV Racing Technology and KVSH Racing. After capturing the 2013 Indianapolis 500 victory with Tony Kanaan, the duo won five more races over the next three seasons with Bourdais, the driver they’ll work with again this year.

“I took a year off from competition for the first time in many years and realized how much I missed it,” Vasser said. “This is the next chapter in my racing career, so I want to say thank you to Sulli, Dale, SealMaster, our sponsors and Sebastien. With their support we are focused on re-creating our prior success and again challenging for wins in 2018.”

SealMaster, the world’s largest manufacturer of pavement sealer, will be the primary sponsor of Bourdais’ car at nine of the year’s 17 races, beginning with the season-opening event on the streets of St. Petersburg and including the 102nd Running of the Indianapolis 500.

The Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on March 11 will mark the 172nd start of Bourdais’ Indy car career, which enters its 13th season.
